Relapse is it really a part of recovery?

Relapse, is it part of recovery or not? I have heard both sides of the fence on this topic and I will try to share some of them with you. You can always join in with a commit here at Angel Face Foundation this is what we are about, to share each others experiences in the hope we all can grow from it.

From my experiences here in this journey, usually people who believe that addiction is a choice rather than a disease have this strong belief that relapse is not part of recovery, and I do think this is a fair exhumation. And from my understanding I do believe that this is old school here.

Some people believe that the term “relapse is part of recoveryis just another invention to continue use? That it is just simply as turning on a light for themselves. That relapse is a thin line of, once and addict always and addict mantra that has fuel decades of addiction-related social stigma.

Somehow that “relapse is part of recovery” minimize the pain and the potential loss of life involved in the resumption of other drug use. And some will even claim that “relapse is part of recoveryprovides for addiction treatment programs an escape from accountability for post-treatment recovery outcomes.

Now I do believe that we all are unique in our own ways just like a snowflake so I personally believe that one way or program may or may not work for the addict. My personal belief is that addiction is a disease and not a choice, so I am leaning more for the approach of it is really up to the addict them self to free themselves from the chains that they are in. Also I do believe that once an addict always an addict it is just a matter of do you want to live a sober life?

If you do then you must arm yourself about this disease and recognize the traps and pit falls that all addicts go through with relapse in recovery. If you have not have this knowledge and wish to learn a little about it click here!

We are here to share our experience with drug addiction how it affects both the addict and their families along with their friends. Bringing awareness about the war on drugs an how it has failed in many ways. You are welcome to comment even if you might disagree with the post, we here are a free speech zone. We will post it as long it's constructive towards solutions rather then being to harsh and judgmental causing it to be part of the problem.
